The SARS‑CoV‑2 virus is transmitted in aerosols. This is called “airborne” transmission of the pathogen, by infection control professionals. The regular word “airborne” well describes how this transmission takes place, as the virus floats in the air and is inhaled.
This pandemic has provided many examples of airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2. We have collected much of it in an interactive timeline to support when information was available to all for this fact to support public or legal inquiries later.
We provide an interactive timeline version of this page as well as a searchable list version of this page that is better for visually impaired people.
